A device for cleaning a heat exchanger will be described. According to an embodiment of the invention, the cleaning device has an evaporation module which is arranged in the vicinity of the heat exchanger, so that it is exposed to the same gas flow as the heat exchanger. The cleaning device further comprises a supply line, which is connected to the evaporation module and via which a liquid can be passed into the evaporation module. The evaporation module has outlet nozzles which are arranged so that the vapor, which is formed in the evaporation module by evaporation of the liquid, can exit through the outlet nozzles in the direction of the heat exchanger.
