The invention relates, inter alia, to a reactive power compensation device (30) for an AC voltage network with a transformer which is connected on the secondary side in a neutral connection and has a secondary connection per phase, wherein between each of the secondary connections (S1-S3) of the transformer and the neutral point (SP) of the star connection in each case a module series circuit (710) with at least two series-connected switching modules (711), each having at least four switches (720) and a capacitor (C) is connected. According to the invention, it is provided that the transformer is a stray field transformer (40).
