Vehicle cooling fan with aerodynamic stator stays

An axial cooling fan for a vehicle includes an electrically powered motor that is operable to move fan blades to move air for cooling a component of the vehicle. A stator is attached to the engine and has a plurality of struts that hold the engine firmly to the vehicle. The struts of the stator include leading edge surfaces that generally face air that flows in the direction of the struts and past the struts and the stator, such as when the engine is operated to move the fan blades. The leading edge surfaces of the struts have an aerodynamic design formed thereon or an aerodynamic structure formed thereon, such as a serrated pattern on the leading edge surfaces of the struts.
