A method for decoding of a bar code comprises a determining a number of bar code candidates in the recorded image and a processing of the recorded image in accordance with the number of detected barcode candidates. If the number of bar code candidates one, the recorded image is then processed, so that the only a bar code candidates in the recorded image to decode.
