A method for producing a 3D CAD model of a component comprises the following steps: acquiring geometry data of a workpiece blank (8) and modifying an original CAD model (9) having an original component geometry to the desired 3D CAD model a modified component geometry, the geometry data of the workpiece blank (8) are used for modification. The 3D CAD model produced by the method can be used in the context of a component re-manufacturing or a revision of a used component for a CAM machining or for an additive machining. In addition, a use for a simulation, in particular a flow simulation or a load simulation is possible. Furthermore, a computer program product with program code means suitable for carrying out the steps of the method according to the invention is proposed, as well as a system for NC processing with at least one NC-controlled tool which is characterized by such a computer program product.
