The device has a bridging unit (16) maintaining an inlet plate (12) and an outlet plate (14) with respect to one another. A supply opening (20) supplies pieces of wood arranged in the inlet plate. A guiding unit (28) guides a cutting unit (26) between the inlet and the outlet plates. The cutting unit is equipped with cutting modules. The guiding unit includes guiding rods and guiding cases (32), where the guiding rods and the guiding cases are longitudinally grooved with conjugated profiles. The cutting unit is provided with a blade (34) with cutting edge integrated with each guiding case.
