A device (1) for predicting the altitude of the rain-snow boundary comprises: - a memory (3) for receiving sets of meteorological data, each set of meteorological data associating a geographical portion (i), a moment (h) , a temperature (T), an indication of precipitation (P), at least one altitude (K, H, IK, IH), and a type of air mass (M) indicating whether an air mass associated with the geographic portion (i) for a time (h) is considered as entering or leaving a geographical area corresponding to the union of geographic portions (i), each set of meteorological data being initialized with a type of air mass ( M) indicating an outgoing air mass, and the instants (h) being chosen so that the meteorological data sets can be grouped by moment (h) for a given geographical portion (i), - an arranged sorter (5) to browse a group of weather data sets comprising a current instant (h), and, for a given set of this group, modifying the type of air mass (M) to indicate an incoming air mass when the difference between the temperature (T ) of the given set and secondly the temperature (T) of a set associating the geographical portion (i) of the given set and a moment (h-2; h-1) prior to the instant (h) current is greater than a threshold value (T1; T2), - a calculator (7)
