A software application (App) on a computer or mobile device developed for measuring the size of a fish from a photograph. This process is called fishfigure.

The application relates to a software application that allows the length and weight of a fish 3 to be determined from a photograph. To calculate the length of the fish, the fish is photographed against a reference. The reference is preferably a defined length marked 4 along a fishing rod 1 or net. The software application has a calibration tool 6 that allows the user to calibrate the image in respect to the reference, after which the software application may be used to measure fish images using the measuring tool (7, fig 3). Once the length of the fish is known, a length to weight conversion table is used to establish the weight of a particular species of fish. The measurement tools use the number of pixels in the image to calculate the length.
