Apparatus 2 for use in the fashion industry comprises a head portion 4, first and second arms 6, 8. A first pivot 10 which pivotally connects a first end portion 12 of the first arm 6 to the head portion 4 and a second pivot 14 which pivotally connects a first end portion 16 of the second arm 8 to the head portion 4. The apparatus 2 being such that the first and second arms 6, 8 are pivotable about the first and second pivots 10, 12 between an open position in which the first and second arms 6, 8 extend in a diverging manner away from the head portion 4, and a closed position in which the first and second arms 6, 8 extend over the head portion 4 and parallel to each other in a substantially compact arrangement. The head portion 4 comprises third and fourth arms 18, 20; the third and fourth arms 18, 20 pivot about a third pivot 22 and contain a pattern notcher. Preferably the tool elements are for use in the fashion industry and may be a tracing wheel, bradawl, pattern drill, seam unpicker, screwdriver or thread cutter.
