The invention relates to a method in which a specified signal form is transmitted from a control device (2) to a spatially remote transmitting device (110) that is equipped to transmit at least one signal with the specified signal form. The specified signal form is transmitted via at least one supply line (30, 40) of the transmitting device (110). In the process, the voltage (UV(t)) on the supply line (30, 40) of the transmitting device (110) is varied by a fraction of the maximum supply voltage (UVmax(t)) for the transmitting device (110) by means of the control device (2) in order to transmit the specified signal form. The invention further relates to a device for carrying out the method and to a driver assistance system which has the device according to the invention.
