The invention relates to a master cylinder, in particular for a hydraulic actuation system of friction clutch, in particular in an internal combustion engine-driven vehicle, comprising a cylinder having a piston with a piston rod and a stop ring as a stop of the piston, characterised in that the stop ring comprises a stop section and a stripping device which elastically surrounds the piston rod. Compared to prior art solutions, the number of parts required to form a stop for the piston of a master cylinder can be significantly reduced. At the same time, mounting can be considerably simplified compared to prior art solutions.
