The invention relates to a mobile x-ray apparatus comprising an x-ray source and a receptacle (10) for storing at least one x-ray detector (20), the recepta-cle (10) being designed for holding an x-ray detector (20) in a first position, in which a first portion of the x-ray detector (20) is located inside of the recepta-cle (10) and a second portion of the x-ray detector (20) is located outside of the receptacle (10). In order to allow for a safe storage of the x-ray detector (20) in the receptacle (10) and a convenient bagging of the x-ray detector (20), a holding element (15) is provided for holding the x-ray detector (20) in a second position, in which a third portion (23) of the x-ray detector (20) is located inside of the receptacle (10) and a fourth portion (24) of the x-ray detector (20) is located outside of the receptacle (10), wherein the fourth portion (24) is larger than the second portion. The invention further relates to an according receptacle (10) and a method for bagging an x-ray detector (20) into a hygiene protective cover (26), e.g. a plastic bag.
