A distributed network comprises at least three information holding devices. Each information holding device comprises a processing device and a storing device for storing a plurality of data items. Each processing device runs a synchronization tool for synchronizing a data item of one holding device with a data item of another information holding device. The synchronization tools are configured to transmit synchronization information to a log data set containing information indicative of the first one of the data items and second one of the data items and associated synchronization information indicative of a time of the synchronization. At least one processor is configured to determine a performance of synchronization of the information holding devices using the log data set.
