ARCHITECTURE OPTIMIZED FOR APPLICATION DATA SHARING WITHIN A MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE

A mobile communications device comprising: a communication subsystem for communicating with a network; a processor operably connected to the communication subsystem and to a memory, the memory containing a local common address database and instructions that when executed by the processor perform a method comprising:receiving a query from a first source at an address lookup module on the mobile communications device; determining that no record in a local common database disposed on the mobile communications device meets the conditions of the received query; receiving, responsive to querying a remote address database disposed on a remote server, at least one remote matching record meeting conditions of the received query; responsive to the address lookup module determining that at least one remote matching record is acceptable to the first source, updating the local common database to incorporate the at least one remote matching record; and providing the at least one remote matching record from the local common database to a second source that is different from the first source.
