Overload protection means (7a) for a hoist, having a mechanically actuable overload switch (8a) which is connectable to a controller (1a) of the hoist, and having a sensor for measuring a load force, which has a lever system with a lever which is mountable on the hoist so as to be pivotable about a pivot point (A), wherein the lever system is configured and interacts with the overload switch (8a) in such a way that the overload switch (8a) is actuated when the lever system is subjected to a load force which corresponds to an overload, wherein, in order to set the overload, the lever system has a spring element which is configured as a compression spring (10) or tension spring, and the lever is the only lever of the lever system, wherein the overload protection means (7a) comprises a housing (12), via which the overload protection means (7a) is able to be supported on the hoist, wherein the housing (12) and, via the latter, the overload protection means (7a) are able to be fastened detachably to the hoist.
