PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveyance amount detection device capable of stably detecting a sheet conveyance amount with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A sheet conveyance amount detection device has: a sprocket wheel 65 that is engaged with a feed hole formed in a sheet 1 to be conveyed and driven to rotate accompanying the conveyance of the sheet 1; and a rotary encoder 70 that is rotated accompanying the rotation of the sprocket wheel 65 and outputs a detection signal based on the rotation as a signal representing conveyance amounts of the sheet 1; an encoder forcibly driving mechanism 50 that when the sheet 1 to be conveyed reaches a predetermined position on an upstream side of the sprocket wheel 65, forcibly rotates and drives the rotary encoder 70; and a clutch mechanism 62 that when the sprocket wheel is engaged with the feed hole of the sheet to be conveyed, cuts off transmission of rotary driving force to the rotary encoder 70 by the encoder forcibly driving mechanism 50.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
