PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst that can purify efficiently NO_x component mainly in exhaust from a lean-burn engine.;SOLUTION: An occlusion-reduction catalyst includes a structure with at least one platinum group metal supported on a base material including cerium oxide, magnesium oxide and alumina, a structure with rhodium supported on a zirconia compound including no cerium oxide, and an occlusion material.
