PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage by lowering a face pressure generated on tapered rollers in combining a retainer assembly including the plurality of tapered rollers, with an inner ring.SOLUTION: An inner ring assembly 28 is constituted by making a retainer assembly 27 in a state of temporarily accommodating tapered rollers 13 in pockets 20 of a retainer 14, axially approach from a small flange portion 16 side of an inner ring 11, and fitting the tapered rollers 13 of the retainer assembly 27 to an inner raceway surface 17 over the small flange portion 16, and the inner ring assembly 28 and an outer ring 12 are combined. In this method, a jig 30 with which the respective tapered rollers 13 can be kept into contact, and which has a recessed groove 36 having a recessed circular arc-shaped cross-sectional shape on an outer peripheral portion 35, is disposed in adjacent to the small flange portion 16. By sliding the tapered rollers 13 of the retainer assembly 27 along the recessed groove 36 toward a radial outer side, the retainer 14 is expanded, and the tapered rollers 13 are fitted to the inner raceway surface 17 over the small flange portion 16.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
