PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To introduce a vertical axis type aeration agitator of which diameter of an impeller is larger than a size of a fitting hole into inside of an oxidation ditch tank from the fitting hole of a horizontal axis type aeration agitator and to exchange the horizontal axis type aeration agitator with the vertical axis type aeration agitator.SOLUTION: There is provided a vertical axis type aeration agitator used for a biological water treatment having an impeller 43 and a shaft, and the shaft is divided into a first shaft 41 with the impeller 43 and a second shaft 42 connected to the first shaft 41.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
