PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side-chain liquid crystal polymer from which a retardation layer having excellent bending durability and high in-plane uniformity of a retardation value can be formed.SOLUTION: The side-chain liquid crystal polymer has at least two structural units represented by general formula (I) and a liquid crystalline structural unit having a side chain including a liquid crystalline moiety. The at least two structural units represented by general formula (I) include: a structural unit (a) represented by general formula (I); and a structural unit (b) that is represented by general formula (I) and that is different from the structural unit (a) in the number of carbon atoms in a linking group represented by Lor L, where Lis -(CH)- and Lis a linking group represented by -(CHO)-.SELECTED DRAWING: None
