PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airway obstruction diagnosis method and an airway obstruction diagnosis system based on determination of an airway width.SOLUTION: A method diagnosing airway obstruction in a subject includes the steps of: providing a plurality of cross section ultrasonic images of a portion of an airway while the subject breathes normally, each ultrasonic image having a plurality of pixels and each pixel having a color scale value; selecting a region of interest in each ultrasonic image and calculating a first statistical value; identifying the pixel in each region of interest having a color scale value larger than or equal to each first statistical value and defining each airspace region; calculating each airway width on the basis of distribution of pixels in each airspace region; and classifying a state on airway obstruction in the subject according to a second statistic value acquired by calculation of an airway width.SELECTED DRAWING: None
