PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal wave parameter estimation apparatus and an internal wave parameter estimation method for simplifying a calculation process in estimating a parameter of an internal wave.SOLUTION: The internal wave parameter estimation apparatus includes an observation vector generating unit for generating an observation vector based on an initial observation vector and an initial observation matrix together with a first initial value and a second initial value and an observation matrix generation unit for generating an observation matrix based on the initial observation matrix together with the first initial value and the second initial value. The internal wave parameter estimation apparatus further includes a simultaneous equation solving unit for obtaining a difference vector of internal wave parameters based on the observation vector and the observation matrix and an internal wave parameter calculation unit for obtaining a mode band and a total energy amount based on the difference vector together with the first initial value and the second initial value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
