PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagnostic method for an unknown cerebrovascular disease, moyamoya disease.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, there is provide a diagnostic biomarker composition, comprising caveolin-1, which confirming the fact that, in a blood sample from a patient with moyamoya disease, the level of caveolin-1 is specifically decreased compared to normal persons and arteriosclerosis patients. According to the present invention, there are also provided a diagnostic composition, a diagnostic kit, a method for providing diagnostic information, and a method for screening a therapeutic agent. The composition is a preparation for measuring an expression level of caveolin-1 mRNA or protein. The preparation for measuring the expression level of mRNA comprises an antisense oligonucleotide, a primer, or a probe, which specifically binds to the caveolin-1 gene.
