PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vitrified object decomposing method by which glass is efficiently decomposed in the absence of molten salt and at a lower temperature than usual and the processing furnace can be extended in useful life and increased in the safety or processing, a separating method by which chemical species and elements containing various high-level radioactive waste can be efficiently and securely separated from the vitrified object together with a separating device for the method.SOLUTION: By a vitrified object decomposing method, the vitrified object is decomposed by inputting the object into a metallic lithium (Li) bath in molten state of less than 450°C in temperature and containing no molten salt by utilizing a reductive reaction of metallic Li. The method of separating chemical species and elements from the vitrified object is characterized in that decomposition of the vitrified object containing at least any one of long-life nuclear fission chemical species, lanthanoid chemical species and platinum group chemical species is accomplished by the vitrified object decomposing method described above.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
