PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems and methods for semaphore-based protection of shared system resources.;SOLUTION: Data access components are each configured to issue an access request, which requests access to a shared system resource. Regarding the data access components, a region descriptor is associated with the shared system resource. A semaphore module implements a semaphore for the shared system resource, and produces semaphore signals indicating which of the data access components has locked the semaphore for the shared system resource if any of the plurality of data access components has locked the semaphore for the shared system resource.
