The present invention provides the use of an oxalate-based ligand and a copper-catalyzed aryl halide coupling reaction, specifically the use of a compound represented by Formula I below. Here, the definition of each group is as described in the specification. The compound of formula I can be used as a ligand for aryl halide coupling reactions using a copper catalyst as a catalyst for aryl halide coupling reactions that form C—N, C—O, C—S bonds, and the like.
