An apparatus for training a user for proper mixing of pharmaceutical ingredients, an apparatus for assisting in mixing, or an apparatus for mixing and administering pharmaceutical ingredients is disclosed. The device includes a housing for receiving a pharmaceutical delivery device containing a pharmaceutical component. There is also a microcontroller disposed within the housing and a motion / orientation detection device disposed within or on the housing and in communication with the microcontroller. A method for using the device is also disclosed with the substance used as one of the pharmaceutical ingredients.
