PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared cut filter which has good infrared shielding property with small incident angle dependence and exhibits high scratch resistance and environmental resistance.SOLUTION: An infrared cut filter 10 comprises: a transparent dielectric substrate 12; an infrared reflective layer 14 formed on one surface of the transparent dielectric substrate 12 to reflect infrared rays; and an infrared absorptive layer 16 formed on the other surface of the transparent dielectric substrate 12 to absorb infrared rays. The infrared absorptive layer 16 includes a matrix formed of a sol-gel method and having silica as a main ingredient with an infrared absorbing pigment contained therein.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
