Improved signaling method for OFDMA-based data ACK / BA frame exchange in a wireless network system

The present invention relates generally to wireless networking, and more particularly to a method and apparatus for improving the throughput of wireless devices and systems in a wireless network. The present invention includes transmitting one or more signaling frames from one wireless device in a wireless network to another wireless device (STA) in the wireless network. The one or more signaling frames include information regarding channel allocation for transmission and requirements for acknowledgment frames between the transmitting wireless device and the receiving wireless device. The present invention allows wireless devices that are not assigned a transmission medium during a transmission burst to sleep and schedules different wireless devices that are assigned a transmission medium during different data transmission bursts.
