PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a quaternary ammonium halide from the surface of a gold nanoparticle.SOLUTION: Prior to the step of removing at least a part of a quaternary ammonium cation and/or a halide of gold and/or silver from the surface of a gold nanoparticle, a compound having 2-methacryloyloxy ethyl phosphorylcholine and/or a thiol group is attached to the surface of the gold nanoparticles. Aggregation of the gold nanoparticles can be thereby suppressed after the quaternary ammonium cation and/or the halide of gold and/or silver is removed, and recombination to the gold nanoparticles can be prevented.SELECTED DRAWING: None
