PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous coating liquid containing a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin with no coloring in an elapse of time by a storage environment, fast gelation speed, and less cracks in a coating layer.SOLUTION: An aqueous coating liquid includes: a modifying group-containing polyvinyl alcohol-based resin (A) having an active methylene group; a crosslinking agent (B) (excluding a boron compound (C)); and the boron compound (C). In the aqueous coating liquid, a content ratio (C/B) (weight ratio) of the crosslinking agent (B) and the boron compound (C) is 0.1-4.8. The content of (B) is 0.5-30 pts.wt. or 0.5-40 pts.wt. with regard to 100 pts.wt. of the modifying group-containing polyvinyl alcohol-based resin (A) having an active methylene group.SELECTED DRAWING: None
