PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter for a liquid crystal display device, in which a columnar spacer in the color filter for a liquid crystal display device is prevented from damaging an alignment film on a TFT side by external force or an impact after a liquid crystal panel is fabricated, and good image display can be achieved.SOLUTION: A columnar spacer for a color filter for a liquid crystal display device is formed by using a photosensitive resin composition comprising at least a binder resin (A), a photopolymerizable compound (B), a photopolymerization initiator (C), and an organic solvent (D) by a photolithography process; and the columnar spacer is formed to maintain a certain gap between a color filter for a liquid crystal display device and a TFT substrate. When the columnar spacer is pressed with a load of 2 mN for 5 seconds by an indenter (Vickers indenter) having a pyramidal minute tip, a Vickers hardness (HV) thus measured is 30 or more and 36 or less; and a ratio d/e of a 90% line width d near the upper bottom of the columnar spacer to a 0% line width e near the lower bottom is 0.65 or more.
