Methods for diagnosis and treatment of affective disorders

The methods of the invention are useful for determining whether an individual has an affective disorder or the risk of developing it by detecting the expression level of connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) in a biological sample. The methods of the invention are also useful for identifying compounds that modulate (eg, reduce) CTGF expression levels or activity. The present invention further provides a therapeutic method targeting CTGF for the treatment of affective disorders.
