PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for polyethylene polymer production which can produce ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene polymers, which are superior in abrasion and whose intrinsic viscosity (dL/g) is not less than 30.0, efficiently.SOLUTION: A catalyst for producing polyethylene polymers consists of a metallocene catalyst which includes (A) a transition metal compound having a specific structure, (B) an activation co-catalyst having a specific structure, and, in some cases, (C) an organoaluminum compound. A production method of the polyethylene polymers uses it.
