PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, device, program, and method for reading information, which enable processing that makes use of a positional relationship between an information storage medium and a counterpart device.SOLUTION: An information reading system establishes near-field wireless communication with an information storage medium. The information reading system has an antenna unit and an information acquisition unit. The antenna unit comprises a plurality of antenna coils arranged in an intercrossing or matrix form, defining a read area for each of the antenna coils. The information acquisition unit reads information from the information storage medium in the proximity for each read area by establishing near-infrared wireless communication with the information storage medium in each of the read areas.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
