[Problem] To provide a method for identifying a strain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, etc. in a sample and detecting a gene variation using the gene sequence information thereof. [Solution] By composing a consensus genome consisting of a plurality of M. tuberculosis strains and analogous strains thereof, acquiring gene sequence information of a strain in a sample, and then comparison processing the same to the consensus genome, the strain can be identified and, at the same time, a gene variation in the strain can be detected. The consensus genome can be composed by correcting inversions in the genes of the M. tuberculosis strains and analogous strains thereof.
