PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately monitor wear of a refractory of an electric furnace, which melts scraps with arc discharge.;SOLUTION: A refractory wear management device of an electric furnace is configured to: analyze an inverse unsteady-state heat transfer problem on the basis of temperatures measured at thermocouples 6a-6i in each temperature sampling time, to derive relationship between heat flux and time on a furnace wall inner surface 5a (hot spots 8a, 8b, 8c); and from the result, derive a time integration value of heat flux in a period corresponding to single operation to output it.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1;COPYRIGHT: (C)2018,JPO&INPIT
