A power control method is provided for a laser system including a laser diode disposed in a diode bank. Each diode bank includes at least one laser diode and has maximum power. The method operates to cause the first diode bank of the diode bank to output the first power, and simultaneously to operate the other diode banks of the diode bank to output the other power, at least of the other power. One is different from the first power.
