A dispensing assembly (10) and method for preventing a lead-lag condition between first and second fluid components forming a mixed fluid includes a nozzle (12) and a mixer insert (36) connected to first (28) and second (30) barrels respectively containing the first and second fluid components. The nozzle (12) has a nozzle inlet (48) that includes first (54) and second (55) cavity portions. The mixer insert (36) is positioned at least partially within the nozzle inlet (48) to collectively define respective first (54a) and second (55a) passages. The first and second passages are adapted for directing the first and second fluid components into a nozzle bore of the nozzle for forming a pre-mixed fluid according to a predetermined ratio. The nozzle is further adapted to mix the pre-mixed fluid for dispensing the mixed fluid from the nozzle.
