A system and method for measuring and diagnosing ride quality of an elevator system includes: (a) operating a mobile device to obtain ride data; and (b) operating the mobile device to obtain ride data from an external computing device. (C) operating the external computing device to compare the acquired ride comfort data with predetermined system data to create performance data; and (d) operating the external computing device. Performing a ride comfort diagnosis based at least in part on the performance data, and (e) operating an external computing device to send the ride comfort diagnosis to the mobile device.
