The disclosed embodiments provide a skin stimulation device that addresses skin aging effects at the protein level. In particular, periodic mechanical strain is used to control specific proteins in the skin to produce specific effects. As a non-limiting example, the disclosed embodiments are used to increase the production of certain proteins in the skin (eg, hyaluronan synthase 3 (HAS3); fibronectin; tropoelastin; procoll1; integrin, etc.).
