PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head-mounted image display device for detecting the behavior of head by means of a sensor.SOLUTION: A head-mounted image display device includes a display section which displays to maintain quiescent state for a predetermined period to a user, an acceleration sensor section for detecting acceleration in three orthogonal directions, respectively, and an operation section for calculating the direction of gravity acceleration based on an acceleration detected by the acceleration sensor section in the predetermined period. The operation section determines that first predetermined operation is performed, when an angle formed by the first direction of its own device and a plane orthogonal to the direction of gravity acceleration exceeds a first predetermined value, based on the acceleration detected by the acceleration sensor section.
