PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sulfone group-containing polyphenylene ether resin having excellent durability by inhibiting the desorption of a sulfone group due to heat.SOLUTION: A sulfone group-containing polyphenylene ether resin has an oxygen atom content of 30 mass% or more and 40 mass% or less, and an ion exchange capacity of 0.5 milliequivalent/g or more and 3.5 milliequivalent/g or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
