PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contaminant remover and a soil remediation method, enabling contaminant (e.g. arsenic) to be easily and inexpensively removed from soil containing the contaminant even under a relatively mild condition without needs for a severe condition such as high temperature or strong acid.SOLUTION: In a first embodiment, a contaminant remover is provided that mainly contains shot waste sand generated from a shot blast process of applying shot blast to a cast obtained in a sand mold casting. In a second embodiment, a contaminant remover is provided that is identical to the contaminant remover in the first embodiment except that the shot waste sand contains at least 70 to 74 mass% of silicon oxide, 9 to 13 mass% of iron and iron oxide and 9 to 13 mass% of aluminum oxide. In a third embodiment, a contaminant remover is provided that is more preferably composed of a component mainly containing iron content obtained by magnetic separation using a magnetic separator, of the shot waste sand generated in a shot blast process of applying the shot blast to the cast obtained by the sand mold casting. The soil remediation method is provided in which a soil containing the contaminant is converted to muddy water, the contaminant remover is added to the muddy water, then the muddy water is subjected to centrifugal separation under ordinary temperature and ordinary pressure.SELECTED DRAWING: None
