PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optimum tire cross-sectional shape exhibiting consistent characteristics beyond the tire cross-sectional shape despite difference in the tire cross-sectional shape if the optimum tire cross-sectional shape is to be obtained using tire models of finite element models.SOLUTION: For each of a plurality of sections on a tire outer circumferential surface that characterizes a tire cross-sectional shape, a peripheral length of each section in the distribution of shape difference between a reference tire model and a modified tire model is increased or reduced so that a peripheral length used to distribute the shape difference matches that of each of the sections corresponding to an analysis target reference tire model, thereby obtaining corrected shape difference. Using the distribution of the obtained corrected shape difference, the analysis target reference tire model is modified to create a plurality of analysis target basic tire models. Deformations of the respective created analysis target basic tire models are linearly added to create a prototype tire model. Using the prototype tire model, simulation calculation is made for tire performances, thereby obtaining an optimum tire cross-sectional shape.
