PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional model retrieval system which makes a two-dimensional sketch image a retrieval question.SOLUTION: A three-dimensional model retrieval system according to this invention includes buffer image processing means for generating a comparison image by a Laplacian filter, thinning processing and a Gaussian filter for a depth buffer image of a three-dimensional model, conversion processing means for converting a two-dimensional sketch image and the comparison image into ones in a prescribed size, overlapping and division means for dividing the images converted into the prescribed size by the conversion processing means in size determined in each step with a small area set so as to be overlapped as a unit, feature amount calculation means for extracting a histogram of luminance gradient with luminance as weight in each small area divided by the overlapping and division means to calculate the values of the feature amounts of the sketch image and the comparison image, and order normalization processing means for attaching an order to the values of the feature amounts calculated by the feature amount extraction means to set new feature amounts.
