PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve energy efficiency of a geothermal generation system and holding down cost increases of a pump and the like, thereby reducing power generation unit cost in the geothermal generation system for generating steam rotating a steam turbine without pumping up hot water from a geothermal region.SOLUTION: A steam generator 20 for geothermal generation for generating steam rotating a steam turbine 30, comprises: a downward channel in which water flows down from a ground to a geothermal region 1 and absorbs heat in the geothermal region 1; an upward channel that has a lower end communicating with the downward channel and in which hot water flows up from the lower end; and a decompression unit 26 provided in the upward channel and decompressing a pressure of the hot water flowing up in the upward channel to be not more than a saturation steam pressure.
