PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container terminal and an operation method of the container terminal capable of increasing a storage area which has been reduced, and reducing a stacked number of containers by providing a reciprocating carriage which travels on a traveling path extending in a longitudinal direction of a storage lane.SOLUTION: On a track of a CART traveling path L1 that is adjacent to a storage lane 2 and extends in a longitudinal direction of the storage lane 2, and on which a CART 20 for transporting containers reciprocates, a storage table 50 capable of storing the containers is provided. The storage table 50 is configured so that the CART 20 loaded with the containers can pass through under the storage table 50 storing the containers.
