PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a digest video capable of enhancing a grasping degree of a user with respect to the video content.SOLUTION: A digest video generating apparatus includes: a scene division unit for dividing the indicated video into a plurality of scenes; a user interest degree calculating unit for calculating the interest degree for each of a plurality of scenes; an inter-scene similarity calculation unit for calculating similarity between scenes for each combination of two scenes in the plurality of scenes; a scene score calculation unit for calculating a score for each of the plurality of scenes; and a digest video generating unit for selecting the scenes from the plurality of scenes based on the score calculated for each of the plurality of scenes, and generating the digest video including the selected scenes.
