PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet transaction device and a paper sheet transaction processing method capable of performing the reception transaction processing or exchange transaction processing of paper sheets which do not satisfy a face value.SOLUTION: The paper sheet transaction device includes: a money payment/reception port of paper sheets; an identification part for identifying information on the denominations, authenticity and serial numbers of received paper sheets; an exchange amount calculation part for calculating the exchange amount of the received paper sheets on the basis of the information on the serial numbers identified by the identification part; a display part for displaying the amount calculated by the exchange amount calculation part, and for allowing a user to select the propriety of reception transaction or exchange transaction; and a host control part for executing the reception transaction or exchange transaction in accordance with the selection result.
